The 1st of April: is the Day of Laughter or the Day of the Fool?

The 1st of April is not brought in any calendars of significant dates and national holidays, but it can be related to international as it is celebrated both in Russia, and in Germany, both in England, and in France, and in Scandinavia, and even in the East.

In one countries the 1st of April is called the Day of laughter, in others – the Day of the Fool. At this day everyone wishes to joke at others, nobody is insured from draws and even the most serious people involuntarily smile.

The origin of this festival still is not clear. In general, public favorite holidays have one common feature – nobody knows precisely when they have appeared and due to what occasion.

The custom to have fun, joke and deceive each other on the 1st of April exists in very many countries.

In Russia, it occurred after once, inhabitants of Petersburg have been awaken early in the morning by the disturbing alarm usually announcing a fire. It was the 1st of April, and the alarm was comic.

Presumably more than 70 % of people are going to play jokes at someone among their friends and relatives. So be on the lookout, have on mind a set of fresh jokes and amusing rhymes, and do not take offence at somebody’s draws.
